Gentle plant-based care for sensitive skin
Sensitive skin reacts more quickly to triggers than other skin types. Fragrances, alcohol, and harsh ingredients can throw the skin out of balance and lead to redness, tightness, or a burning sensation. The key is simplicity: a short routine with products that match the skin’s own composition, without unnecessary strain. In this collection, you will find only fragrance-free, alcohol-free plant-based oils and hydrosols.
Which oil is right for sensitive skin?
For sensitive skin, fragrance-free oils without essential oils are the safest starting point. Jojoba oil is the most logical starting point for most sensitive skin types: its composition of wax esters closely resembles the skin’s own sebum, it is barely comedogenic, and it is virtually odorless. Hemp seed oil has a high linoleic acid content that matches the fatty acid composition of a healthy skin barrier, and a light texture that also suits sensitive oily or combination skin well.
For sensitive skin that is also prone to dryness, or for mature sensitive skin, macadamia oil and baobab oil are richer options that are still well tolerated. Bulgarian rose water works as a gentle, alcohol-free step between cleansing and oil.
Oil for sensitive skin: what should you look for?
- Choose oils without added fragrances or essential oils
- Always do a patch test with a new oil: apply a small amount to the inside of the wrist and wait 24 hours
- Start with one product at a time so you know what works
- Avoid products with alcohol denat, sulfates, and synthetic perfumes
