Wat is een gemengde huid?

What is combination skin?

A combination skin is, as the words already indicate, 'mixed' in terms of type. The skin is partly oily and partly dry. The dry spots are often on the cheeks. The oily spots are often found on the T-zone: the forehead, nose and chin. Fortunately, there are natural products that can bring combination skin back into balance.

How do you recognize combination skin?

You can recognize combination skin by the different skin types on the face. You suffer from dry spots as well as shiny skin. You have enlarged pores, pimples, blackheads, but also dry (flaky) skin on parts of your face. The so-called T-zone: the forehead, nose and chin are the only parts of the face that are always oily.

What is the cause of combination skin?

Combination skin can be hereditary. You were born with the two different skin types. On the one hand, your facial skin produces too much sebum and on the other hand, too little.

In addition to these factors over which you have little influence, there are also factors over which you do have influence. For example, stress and weather conditions also play a role in the condition of the skin.

And the use of skin care products can also influence the condition of the skin. This can happen more quickly with combination skin. Because the product that works well for one part of the skin does not work at all for the other part of the same facial skin.

By knowing that you are dealing with combination skin and by using the right products, you can get the entire facial skin calm and balanced again.

How do you care for combination skin?

Combination skin is best cared for by using mild products. This way you can simultaneously provide the right care to the parts of the face that are too oily and too dry. In terms of oils, a semi-drying oil works very well for people with combination facial skin. These types of oils work well for the dry and oily areas of the face. Do you notice that certain parts of your face need some extra nourishment? Then you can feel free to apply additional oil or butter to the areas that need it. This way you can adapt the care to the changing needs of your skin.

Jojoba oil is a nice oil to use if you have combination skin. The oil works well for different skin types. Because it has a sebum-regulating effect, you can use the oil for both the drier and oilier parts of your skin. If the oil does not have sufficient effect on your dry areas, you can, for example, apply extra castor oil, avocado oil or argan oil. If you prefer to apply butter to very dry areas, you can opt for shea or mango butter

Important for combination skin

  • Choose mild care products
  • Take into account the varying needs of your skin
  • Adjust your products if you notice that your skin needs it
