Castor oil
Buy castor oil - 100% organic, cold-pressed, and pure
Castor oil (also known as ricinus oil or castor oil) is a rich vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis). It consists of about 85–90% ricinoleic acid, a rare fatty acid responsible for the oil's characteristic thick, film-forming texture. Our castor oil is organically certified, cold-pressed at a maximum of 35°C, and free from solvents, fragrances, and synthetic additives.
What is castor oil used for?
Castor oil is known as a versatile care oil for skin, hair, and eyelashes. Its film-forming properties help limit moisture loss, keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Because of its heavy texture, castor oil should always be diluted with a lighter oil such as jojoba oil when used on the face or around the eyes.
Castor oil for the skin
Castor oil is traditionally used as a care oil for dry, tight-feeling skin. The film-forming layer helps support the skin barrier. On the face, it is used as an evening oil, diluted in jojoba oil or argan oil. On the body, it can be applied pure or diluted to dry areas after showering. Want to read more? Castor oil for hair and scalp
Castor oil is widely used as a hair oil for dry, porous, or damaged hair. It is applied as a pre-wash treatment to the scalp or hair shaft, left on for thirty to sixty minutes, and then rinsed out. Because of its heavy texture, always dilute with jojoba oil or argan oil before using on the hair. Read more tips in our blog about castor oil for hair and scalp.
Castor oil for eyelashes, eyebrows, and nails
A small amount of castor oil applied with a clean brush to the eyelashes or eyebrows is a commonly used evening treatment. On cuticles, it contributes to a smoother, more hydrated feel. You can find more uses in our article on 8 ways to use castor oil.
Castor oil or castorolie: what's the difference?
Castor olie and castorolie are the same oil - it's simply a matter of spelling. In Dutch, castorolie is written as one word; castor oil is the English term. Ricinusolie is the botanical name. Our organic castor oil is 100% pure, cold-pressed, and free from additives.
