Hydrosols
Hydrosols, also known as floral waters or plant waters, are exceptionally gentle distillates produced during the steam distillation of flowers and herbs. Unlike essential oils, hydrosols contain only a very low concentration of aromatic compounds, making them suitable for daily use — even on sensitive or reactive skin.
At More Natural, we select only pure, undiluted hydrosols. Our Bulgarian rose water and Bulgarian lavender water are bottled immediately after distillation and contain no alcohol, fragrance, or synthetic additives. As a result, they fit perfectly into a minimalist, gentle skincare routine.
What makes a hydrosol unique?
During distillation, volatile aromatic molecules from plants are carried into the water phase. Hydrosols therefore contain:
- a skin-friendly, low concentration of active plant compounds
- a slightly acidic pH that matches the skin's natural barrier
- a soft, subtle scent without fragrance
- hydration without greasiness
This makes hydrosols especially suitable as a gentle toner, refreshing facial mist, or prep step before an oil or cream. For a more detailed explanation of natural skincare, you can read our guide: Natural skincare – oils, hydrosols and clays explained.
Our hydrosols
Bulgarian rose water – 100% organic
Bulgarian rose water is one of the most versatile hydrosols. It is widely used as a gentle toner that leaves the skin feeling soft. Its light floral scent is natural and not overpowering. Rose water is popular with people with dry, normal, or sensitive skin.
